By Katie Buehler (April 8, 2022, 4:06 PM EDT) — A trucking parts distributor has pulled a pair of appeals filed with the Texas Supreme Court — including one highlighting a potential “forum shopping” loophole in the state’s civil case rules — after reaching a settlement in the underlying drunken driver wrongful death suit.
FleetPride Inc. and employee Melissa Beach, along with plaintiff Ada Cabrera, filed a joint status report and request for dismissal with the Texas Supreme Court on March 31, which the justices granted Friday without comment.
